Ann went to Cornell but switched from vet major to something else (retail, fashion?) She was one of my best friends. First time ever I had key lime pie was at her house. She and David St. George were good buddies, I think. She was very smart! So very sad to hear she's gone.
Yes, Ann and I were good friends - knew each other since we were five years old. We stayed in touch briefly after we went to college but then drifted apart. Nothing happened to the friendship, it was just the sort of drifting away that happens between most of even the closest childhood friends. But many years later I moved back to Arlington, and Ann was the first person I looked up. When I learned that she had kept the house on Gray Street that she grew up in I tried to contact her, and then found that she had passed away from cancer a few months earlier.
Ann's rather stern, high-principled manner (so like her father, our junior high school principal!) sometimes led people to think of her as cold. Nothing could have been further from the truth. I think of Ann fondly and often. I hope she was happy.
Ann was always friendly towards me............although with some reserve.................. She really was a sweet soul......... I also hope she had a happy life albeit much too short. My sympathy to her family.
I was sadden to hear about Ann's death. Not only were we friends, but our mothers were also friends. Mr. Ottoson was a great school principal. I am glad to hear that the school is now named after him.
My yearbook contains the following salutation from Ann: John, life is like an elevator ride...You can't let the ups and downs or even the jerks bother you- so don't...Good luck..Ann
How appropriate a comment to a fella who took things so seriously. Now that I am older and wiser, her comments mean even more to me. She must have had a crystal ball or some special intuition and insight. We lost a sweetheart! Gone, but not forgotten. Here's to you Ann for all that you did and stood for!!!
